How To Plan an Instagram Worthy Picnic
Ok, let's admit it... Pinterest along with Instagram have us head over heels for picnics set ups. However, If you are anything like my husband, You love the idea but the designing part of it gives you anxiety, don't worry you are not alone.
As simple as It may seem, setting up an instagram worthy picnic requires a lot of planning. That's why companies like my self have adventured into offering this cute service for couples with little to no time, but today I'm here to help you understand the logistics behind this so you can plan your own!
First things first, find an open space for your set up. It can be in your backyard, local park, or the beach, just make sure it has a flat surface and even better if it has an amazing view to enjoy. Talking about parks ... did you know that most of the parks and beaches in OC/LA county require a photography permit? If you are planning to have your set up photographed make sure to purchase a permit ahead of time (this can be purchase on the city's website) and check out any additional city requirements for photography. Believe me, the last thing you want is an expensive fine. My best advise to you will be hire a professional photographer, they will most likely have a permit ready for you. (Check the photography portion of this blog)
The famous quote "The More The Merrier" it's suitable for this portion. The more details you add the better results you will get. Here's the list of some of the items you could incorporate.
Rug or Blanket - You will definitely need something to seat on, make sure to have a neutral color rug or blanket so the rest of your colors don't crash.
Pillows - Have at least 8 pillows, you can purchase them in stores like World Market, Hobby Lobby or even Ross. You can also rent them to save money (Check out my rentals)
Lanterns - Lanterns will add a warm tone to your picnic add some lanterns or even candles!
Baskets - Nothing says picnic more than baskets, in this picture I've added Two. One for the blankets and one for the flowers, but you can use them for anything!
Flowers - Flowers make everything so much prettier be sure to add and arrangement .
Charcuterie/Food - A picnic is incomplete with out food, and a charcuterie board its a great option and adds so much color to the set up but of course it can be substituted with any other food option.
Drinks - Bring your Favorite drink and don't forget to toast!
Dessert - My all time favorite dessert is cake so I can be a little bias when it so you can bring anything.
Plates & Forks - A nice set of plates, Fork, knife, and napkins its ideal for a picnic!
Low Table - You have the food, the drinks, the Dessert, now you need a riser to add balance on your picnic, this can be a table or a low side table as in my set up.
Special Touches - The perfect set up isn't perfect unless it represents you and your significant other. In the case of my pictures you are able to see a bible, a hat, and a name sign, all of these made this picnic unique.
You have done all the planning don't let all the details go unnoticed. Hire a photographer to capture all the amazing details for you as well as some romantics.
