Frida Kahlo Styled Wedding Shoot
Updated: Dec 30, 2020
"In the Middle of the Darkness be a colorful Frida... The world is going through so much pain, violence, fear, anxiety that needs more of Frida Khalo in it. Frida Khalo was a fearless woman with incredible strength, created through the pain. The physical and emotional pain was a constant visitor to her. Through her childhood she suffers from discrimination for been a mestizo kid, later on, she got polio and a car accident left her paralytic. Her emotions didn’t dim her spirit, on the contrary, it made her strong and beautiful which beauty was reflected in a colorful way trough her paints. She literally took her hardships, physical, and emotional pain, and made wonders with it. Instead of building self-pity, she built wonderful pieces of art. This is why Frida was our inspiration for this shoot. We need a bit more of Frida's spirit. We wanted to encourage others to turn our strength and emotions into colors and create something beautiful in the unlikeliest of times. We must be inspired to make a beautiful legacy for ourselves." - Southern Ca Bride
Every detail tells a story, from the glamorous long earrings that described the Mexican artist to the famous Diego Rivera's cigar, and of-course, we couldn't leave out the famous Covid 19 Face Mask to which we made sure to add a little bit of Frida. Have fun checking them out!
On of the inspirations for this shoot was the Bride Model, Darlene. Her strength and self confidence resembles so much the one of Frida, Who took no for answer and kept thriving regardless of the pain. On the other hand Chris played Diego very well, his nude color tuxedo was such a perfect addition for this shoot.
The Ceremony + Reception
There was not better place than La Ventura Event Center for this shoot, which allowed us to create the perfect ceremony and reception. Pan Dulce, Colorful cake, color centerpieces, and a fun sarape photo booth backdrop made this the perfect Frida / Mexican Wedding.
Be sure to show some love to the amazing team who went above and beyond to create this beautiful shoot for your Wedding inspiration.
